Rule Out No Deal Open Letter Delivered
Rich House - 26 Feb 2019
Romsey & Southampton North constituents have added their names to an open letter to their MP Caroline Nokes asking her to use her “influence at the heart of government to ensure No Deal is ruled out in law, if necessary by voting against the government”.
The letter was organised by Romsey Better in Europe, a community group campaigning for the UK to remain in Europe. The group have organised stalls on the town on the last two Saturdays campaigning to Rule Out a No Deal Brexit, which will severely damage the country. Passers-by were invited to add their names to the letter. A total of 234 joined the call for Ms Nokes to rule it out in law, 190 of these constituents of the MP. Romsey Better in Europe organiser Rich House says “No Deal would make us poorer and less safe from terrorism and crime. Food and travel will be more expensive. Our health service will be jeopardised by shortages of medicine and staff. We want our MP to help rule out this act of self-harm. As a bigger body the EU will absorb the shock - we won’t. Threatening self harm in these circumstances is not an effective bargaining position. It’s time to get real”. The letter was sent to the MP on Monday via email. A thick wad of paper letters from the stalls were delivered by hand today by myself, Roland Mathews and Freya the puppy. |
