Urgent and important - Amendment 7 Vote
Dear Caroline,
I am a constituent of yours – my address is xxxxxxxx – and I am writing about the European Union Withdrawal Bill.
I understand that Brexit requires a Bill along these lines, but I am very concerned by the powers this gives to the Government to decide on the exit terms without a meaningful vote by Parliament. After all, one of the main reasons people voted to leave the EU was to return powers to Parliament.
The Government's offer of a 'take it or leave it' vote on the terms is inadequate, because if the Bill approving the terms was to be defeated, we would exit without an agreement. This means that a vote against the Bill would be impossible. The amendment tabled by Dominic Grieve (Amendment 7) is needed because it ensures that this would not happen, making the parliamentary vote meaningful. Therefore, if you have not already signed it I urge you to sign it and vote for it.
Its force does depend on exit day not being explicitly set in this Act; and so I very much hope that you will also vote against the Government's amendment to set the exit day.
Finally, please also consider signing and voting for the new clause tabled by Chris Leslie (NC4) which has the same effect as Dominic Grieve's amendment, but which would still be effective if exit day was set by this Act.

EU Withdrawal Bill Amendment 7
Dear Caroline,
I am a constituent of yours – my address is xxxxxxxx – and I am writing about the European Union Withdrawal Bill.
Please vote in favour of Amendment 7 to the EU Withdrawal Bill tabled by Dominic Grieve. It is vital that you and your fellow MPs retain your ability to make a meaningful choice from all the available Brexit options prior to us leaving the EU. If there is no deal it is vital that you are not left with a mandated cliff edge which we are legally bound to throw ourselves over. If there is a bad deal you should be able to reject this without having to fall back on WTO trading and the huge dame this will cause our economy.

Dear Caroline,
As a local constituent, I am writing today to urge you to support one key amendment to the government’s European Union (Withdrawal) Bill that is currently before Parliament.
I consider leaving the European Union to be one of the biggest political issues facing our country. Regardless of how people voted last year we could be forced to live with whatever deal is agreed with the EU by the government for generations to come.
So far the negotiations have given us no cause for optimism. At present it looks likely that whatever deal we get will not be as good as the one we have with the EU at present – or worse still we could end up crashing out with no deal at all!
I therefore think it is vital that there is as much oversight and scrutiny of the final deal as possible to ensure that it is up to scratch.
MPs, like yourself, should have a proper debate and a meaningful vote on the deal and, should you decide it is not good enough, the option to reject the deal. To ensure this happens I would like you to support Amendment 7 of the current Bill which has been tabled by Dominic Grieve MP.
The Amendment states:
Amendment 7: Require the final deal to be approved by statute passed by Parliament
Clause 9, page 6, line 45, at end insert “, subject to the prior enactment of a statute by Parliament approving the final terms of withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.” Member’s explanatory statement: To require the final deal with the EU to be approved by statute passed by Parliament
The Amendment is likely to come to the House in early December and I really hope that you will be able to support it.
Yours sincerely,
